        • THE PERFECT PROGRAM FOR MILITARY KIDS

The CU Fellowship is an entirely virtual civic leadership program that is perfect for high school-aged Blue Star kids, no matter where they live around the world.

Blue Star kids will join a community of hundreds of service-minded teens around the world—a huge number of whom are also military kids—who are committed to strengthening American democracy and ensuring the future of the free world. Friendships built in this community will last, no matter where a Fellow's family moves.

Blue Star kids will never have to worry about missing out on the Fellowship's many fun and educational experiences. Every lesson and fun event is designed to be enjoyed by all kids, no matter where they are in the world.

        • HEAR FROM OUR BLUE STAR KIDS

Blue Star kids loved the 2020 Fellowship. Here's what three of them have to say about the program.

          Elena, 16

          Cooper City, FL

When I started the CU Fellowship in January, I was coping with a particularly hard move. I had lost many friends and a great home. But this community of amazing teenagers that were welcoming, supportive, and passionate helped me move forward, encouraging me as I created a platform specifically for military teens like us. I will always cherish the memories and relationships I have made throughout this experience, and I will take them with me wherever the military sends me next!

          Sam, 16

          Fairfax, VA

When I was in second grade, my mom deployed to Afghanistan for a year, and it was challenging to explain what my family was going through since no other student at my school had experienced this before. Many people still don’t recognize how the Navy Reserves has impacted my life, so I’m incredibly grateful for the Civics Unplugged community, where I’ve connected with other Blue Star teens who understand the struggles and opportunities that come with being a military kid.

          Anna, 17

          Westchester, NY

Being a military kid I was always surrounded by new friends but almost none of those new friendships lasted because I would move every 2-4 years. CU gave me friendships that I will always have as I am virtually surrounded by kids my age who want to build the future of democracy together.
