The Governance of Civics 2030 is administered by a steering committee consisting of three members of the Civics Unplugged staff and five founding Civics Unplugged Fellows.
The Steering Committee is responsible for approving new members, creating sub-committees as needed, monitoring finances, proposing governance changes to be approved by the wider community, and making strategic decisions that drive the Campaign forward.
The first five members of the Steering Committee were elected by the entire Civics Unplugged Founding Fellowship class on July 2, 2020. The only people eligible to seek future Steering Committee positions are founding Civics Unplugged Fellows and future Civics Unplugged Fellows.
Steering Committee members are elected to serve a one-year term, and can serve up to two terms. Elections take place every year during the first week of July at a date set by Civics Unplugged staff. Elections are conducted using ranked choice voting to fill each Steering Committee seat.
