From CU to College Roommates: A Lasting Connection

Mabel and Shloka first met at the Civic Innovation Academy in Georgetown (Summer 2023) and reconnected at the Austin academy. Discovering they were both Columbia-bound, they decided to become roommates and have formed an inseparable bond. Now, Mabel studies Sustainable Development while Shloka focuses on Political Science with a concentration in international relations.

Their CU network extends beyond campus, too. They regularly meet with CU alums Sydney (NYU) for dinner in the city, and even hosted Bhairavi (Berkeley) during her visit from the West Coast. What began as a connection at a CU program has blossomed into enduring friendships across multiple universities.

The Magic of Community

Where Our Fellows Lead

CU Fellows are making an impact at prestigious institutions while carrying forward their commitment to civic innovation:

Measuring What Matters

We evaluate our impact through rigorous assessment focused on both individual development and systemic change:
  • Skill Development: Measuring growth in problem-solving, collaboration, and implementation capabilities
  • Community Impact: Tracking how Fellows' projects create tangible improvements in their communities
  • Self-Efficacy: Evaluating the development of youth confidence in shifting societal systems toward sufficiency
  • Network Strength: Assessing the health, growth, and efficacy of our intergenerational community
